Ten free credits sounds like a lot until you watch them go.
Emergent is one of the fastest-growing AI app builders anywhere, and it's built partly out of Bengaluru. Type what you want, and its AI agents plan, build and test a full app. Bloomberg reported in February 2026 that it reached a US$100 million revenue run rate within a year.
That growth means a lot of Indian business owners are now asking the same questions: what does Emergent cost, is the free plan enough, and why did the credits run out so fast?
This guide answers them from your side of the table, in rupees. One disclosure: my studio, Reset, runs Reset Tasks, which fixes stuck problems in AI-built apps for ₹2,000. I'll say when that's worth it, and when it isn't.

On rupee pricing. Emergent bills most users in US dollars. It has also run India-specific offers, including short low-cost passes for the Standard plan, which deal sites have reported at around ₹1,649 a month after the offer. I couldn't confirm a rupee price list on Emergent's own page, so treat any rupee figure as "check at checkout".
What the dollar figure leaves out. If you pay in dollars, your bank sets the exchange rate and usually adds a 2–3.5% foreign-currency markup. GST may also apply. On a ₹1,920 plan, that's roughly ₹100–400 more a month.
Is Emergent AI free?
Yes. The free plan gives you 10 credits a month and access to the core features, including building web and mobile apps and using advanced AI models.
It's not built for finishing a real app. Emergent's agents do a lot of work per request: planning, writing code, testing and fixing. That's why a single big request can use several credits. Ten credits is usually one small app idea, explored once.
Two things the free plan doesn't include matter for a business:
- Private hosting. Standard adds it. If your app holds customer details, you want this.
- GitHub integration. Standard adds it too. It puts your code in an account you control, which matters for owning what you've built.
Use the free plan to test one question: can Emergent build the kind of app you need? If it can, Standard is the sensible next step.
How Emergent credits get used
Emergent works differently from tools where you edit one screen at a time. You describe the app, and a team of AI agents plans it, builds it and tests it. That's powerful, and it's why credits go fast.
Big requests cost more
A request like "build me a booking app with login, payments and an admin page" sets off a lot of work. The agents may write, test and rewrite code several times before they hand it back. Each step uses credits.
That's usually good value for the first version. It's less good when the agents loop on a problem they can't solve.
Fixes cost the most
Picture Ananya, who runs a home-bakery business in Bengaluru. She builds an order app on Emergent's Standard plan. The first version uses about 40 credits and looks finished.
Then she asks for WhatsApp alerts when an order comes in. The agents try three approaches, each one breaking the order form a little more. A week later she has used her remaining 60 credits and bought more. The app is worse than it was.
It's a common pattern. Connecting WhatsApp needs an approved WhatsApp Business account and message templates set up outside the app, which is a step the agents can't take for you. No amount of prompting fixes a setting that lives somewhere else.
Credits going on one problem that won't fix? Hand it to Reset Tasks. Describe it on WhatsApp, agree the fix, and pay ₹2,000 once. Done within 3 working days, or your money back.
The costs outside Emergent
Your Emergent plan is one bill among several:
| Cost | What it's for | Typical amount |
|---|---|---|
| Domain name | Your own web address | ₹800–3,500 a year |
| Business email | Login and order emails that reach the inbox | ₹100–300 a user a month |
| Payment gateway | Taking payments | About 2% of each payment, plus GST |
| WhatsApp Business messages | Order alerts and updates | Meta's per-message fees |
| Extra credits | When your plan runs out | Bought on Standard and above |
Payment gateway fees: Razorpay, Cashfree and PayU pricing pages, October 2026.
Plan for at least the domain and email from day one. Apps that send login codes from a free email address often land in spam, which looks like "login is broken" to your customers.
How to spend fewer Emergent credits
- Describe the app before you build it. List the screens, who uses each one and what they do. Unclear requests make the agents guess, and guesses cost credits.
- Build the core first. Get the one thing customers must do working. Add extras after.
- Ask for one change at a time. Bundled requests make failures harder to trace.
- Save working versions. Connect GitHub on Standard, so you can go back if a change breaks things.
- Stop after three failed attempts. If the agents haven't fixed it in three tries, the problem is probably outside the code. More prompts won't help.
When to stop prompting and get help
Emergent is a good choice for getting a first version live quickly. I'd recommend it to many owners who want to test an idea without paying an agency.
But some problems sit outside what the AI can see or change. Stop prompting and get a person to look when:
- The app works in preview but not on your own domain
- Login, payments or emails fail for real users but not in testing
- A change keeps breaking something else
- You've used more than about 20 credits on one problem
- Real customer data is about to go into the app
Imagine Karan, who runs a small logistics firm in Navi Mumbai. He builds a driver-tracking app on Emergent and connects his own domain. The login page loads, but every sign-in bounces back to the start. Twenty credits later, it still does. Problems like this are usually one setting: the domain hasn't been added to the login service's list of allowed addresses. That's a 20-minute fix for a person who knows where to look.
Here are the eight most common problems when an AI-built app goes live, with the fix for each.

Frequently asked questions
Is Emergent AI free?
Yes. The free plan gives you 10 credits a month and the core features. That's enough to try Emergent on one small idea. Building a full app usually needs the Standard plan or above.
How much does Emergent cost in India?
Standard costs US$20 a month for 100 credits, about ₹1,920 at October 2026 rates, or US$17 a month billed yearly. Pro is US$200 a month. Emergent has run rupee offers for Indian users, so check the price your account shows.
How do Emergent credits work?
Each request uses credits based on how much work the AI agents do. Large requests that build several features at once use more. Fixes that need several attempts can use more than the original build.
Can I buy more Emergent credits?
Yes, on the Standard plan and above. The free plan can't buy extra credits.
Is Emergent AI safe for customer data?
It can be, if you set it up properly. Use private hosting, keep the code in your own GitHub account, check who can read your database, and don't store customer data until you've checked it. If your app holds personal data, India's DPDP Act applies to you, not to the tool.
What's the cheapest way to fix a problem in my Emergent app?
Try up to three clear, specific requests. If those fail, stop. Reset Tasks fixes one problem for ₹2,000, with a money-back guarantee if it can't be done.
