The best vibe coding platform is the one that gets your app live, not the one with the best demo.
Every week another AI app builder promises to turn a sentence into a working product. Most comparison articles test them on a to-do app and declare a winner. That tells you very little about what happens when you need login, payments, your own domain and real customers.
So this comparison is written for a different reader: a business owner or first-time builder in India who wants a real app, not a weekend experiment. I'll compare the four vibe coding platforms most people ask me about (Lovable, Emergent, Bolt and Replit) on what they cost in rupees, what each is good at, and where each one tends to break.
Disclosure: my studio runs Reset Tasks, which fixes stuck problems in apps built on all four tools for ₹2,000. I don't earn anything from any of the platforms.
What is vibe coding, in plain English?
Vibe coding means building software by describing what you want in plain language and letting an AI write the code. You check the result, say what to change, and repeat. You don't need to read the code yourself.
It's real, and it's useful. For a first version of an app, it can save weeks and lakhs of rupees. The catch is that "it works on my screen" and "it works for 500 customers" are different standards. The tools are very good at the first and still uneven at the second.

Each platform, honestly
01Lovable: the polished web app builder
Lovable is the one most people start with. You chat, it builds, and the result usually looks good from the first try. It connects to Supabase for your database and login, and it can sync your code to GitHub.
Good for: customer portals, booking pages, internal dashboards and marketing sites with a login.
Watch out for: credits. Lovable charges per message, and the cost depends on the size of the change. Building is cheap. Fixing a stubborn bug can take dozens of attempts. Here's what Lovable really costs in India, including where the credits go.
Pricing: free plan with 5 credits a day (up to 30 a month). Pro from US$25 a month for 100 credits, or US$21 a month billed yearly.
02Emergent: the "describe the whole app" builder
Emergent takes a different approach. Instead of editing screen by screen, you describe the app and a team of AI agents plans it, builds it, tests it and fixes what it finds. It builds web and mobile apps, and it has a large Indian user base.
Good for: owners who'd rather write a clear brief than steer every screen.
Watch out for: large requests. The agents do a lot of work per request, so credits go quickly, and an agent stuck on a problem can loop. Here's what Emergent costs in India, plan by plan.
Pricing: free plan with 10 credits a month. Standard US$20 a month for 100 credits (US$17 billed yearly), Pro US$200 a month for 750 credits.
03Bolt: the fast prototype builder
Bolt (bolt.new) runs a full coding environment in your browser. You chat with the AI, and you can see and edit the code as it goes. It's quick to get something on screen, and it suits people who are curious about the code.
Good for: prototypes, landing pages, demos for investors or customers, and builders who want to see the code.
Watch out for: tokens. Bolt measures use in tokens (chunks of text the AI reads and writes). Larger apps use more per request, so a growing project costs more each time you ask for a change. The free plan carries Bolt branding and doesn't allow a custom domain.
Pricing: free plan with 1 million tokens a month (300,000 a day). Pro US$25 a month for 10 million tokens, with unused tokens rolling over. Teams US$30 per member a month.
04Replit: the full workspace
Replit is a complete online coding workspace with an AI agent built in. It handles hosting, databases and background jobs in one place. It's the most capable of the four for apps with real logic behind them, and the most technical to manage.
Good for: apps that need scheduled tasks, integrations with several services, or logic beyond forms and screens. Also good if you plan to bring in a developer later.
Watch out for: usage-based costs. Replit's plans include a monthly usage allowance, and heavier agent work and hosting draw it down. Keep an eye on the usage page.
Pricing: Core US$20 a month (US$18 billed yearly), which includes US$20 of usage. Pro from US$100 a month.
The others people mention
- Base44 (owned by Wix): similar to Lovable, with built-in database and login.
- Google AI Studio and Firebase Studio: Google's tools, useful if you're already on Google Cloud.
- Cursor and Claude Code: AI tools for people who write code. Powerful, but they assume you can read what they produce.
Already built something and stuck on one problem? Whichever tool you used, Reset Tasks fixes one stuck task for ₹2,000, done in 3 working days, money back if we can't.
How to choose: five questions
Answer these before you pay for any plan:
- What must the app do on day one? List the three things a customer must be able to do. If it's mainly screens and forms, Lovable or Bolt is enough. If it needs background work, look at Replit.
- Do you want to steer every screen, or write a brief? Steering suits Lovable and Bolt. A brief suits Emergent.
- Will it hold customer data? If yes, you'll need to set up database access rules properly on any of them. Plan for it.
- Will it take payments? All four can connect Razorpay or Cashfree, but none sets up the payment confirmation for you perfectly. Budget an afternoon.
- Who will maintain it in six months? If you might hire a developer, pick a tool that keeps your code in your own GitHub account from the start.
Picture Nikhil, who runs a 40-truck transport business in Nagpur. He wants drivers to upload delivery photos and the office to see them on a dashboard. He tries Bolt first because the demo is quick, then hits limits on file uploads and background processing. He rebuilds on Replit, which handles both. Answering question 1 before starting would have saved him two weeks.
What a vibe-coded app really costs a month
The plan is only part of the bill. A realistic monthly budget for a small live app:
| Item | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Builder plan (Lovable, Emergent, Bolt or Replit) | ₹1,900–4,800 |
| Database and login (if separate, such as Supabase Pro) | Free, then about ₹2,400 |
| Domain | About ₹100–300 (₹800–3,500 a year) |
| Business email | ₹100–300 per user |
| Payment gateway | About 2% of each payment, plus GST |
| GST and card markup on dollar plans | Roughly 5–20% more |
For most small apps, that's ₹3,000–8,000 a month once you're live. Still far less than an agency, which is why vibe coding makes sense for a first version.
When it stops making sense: once your app has thousands of users, complex rules or a team depending on it daily. At that point, compare the monthly bill and your time with what a properly built app costs in India.
Where all four break
The tools differ in how you build. They're remarkably similar in where they fail once real customers arrive:
- Login on your own domain, because the login service isn't told your new address
- Open databases, because access rules aren't switched on or are too loose
- Secret keys in the browser, where anyone can copy them
- Payments that don't confirm orders, because the gateway's confirmation never arrives
- Emails in spam, because the domain isn't set up to send
None of these is about which tool you picked. They're about the settings around your app, which the AI can't see. Here's each of the eight problems, with the fix.
Picture Divya, a dietitian in Chennai, who builds a client portal on Lovable. It works beautifully until her first 30 clients sign up and half the welcome emails go to spam. She considers switching to Emergent. It wouldn't have helped: the problem was three missing records on her domain, and it would have followed her to any tool.
Own what you build
Whichever platform you choose, keep these in your own name from day one:
- the GitHub account holding the code
- the domain
- the database and login service (such as Supabase)
- the payment gateway account
- the email-sending service
If someone helps you build, they should get access, not ownership. Here's why the accounts matter as much as the code.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best vibe coding platform?
It depends on what you're building. Lovable is strongest for polished web apps, Emergent for building a whole app from a brief, Bolt for fast prototypes, and Replit for apps with real backend logic. Try the free plan of the one that fits your app first.
Which vibe coding tools are free?
All four have a free option. Lovable gives 5 credits a day (up to 30 a month), Emergent 10 credits a month, Bolt 1 million tokens a month, and Replit limited free use. None is enough to finish and run a real app.
Emergent vs Lovable: which is better?
Lovable suits people who want to shape each screen. Emergent suits people who'd rather describe the whole app and let AI agents build and test it. Lovable's entry plan is US$25 a month, Emergent's US$20.
Lovable vs Replit: which should I use?
Lovable is easier and produces better-looking web apps quickly. Replit is more capable for apps that need background jobs, several integrations or heavier logic, but it's more technical to manage.
Can I move my app from one platform to another?
Usually, if your code is in your own GitHub account. Moving is rarely painless, though, because each tool sets up the database and login slightly differently. Choosing well at the start saves time.
Do I need a developer if I use a vibe coding platform?
Not to build a first version. You may need one for specific problems once you go live, such as login on your domain, payments or data security. Reset Tasks handles those one at a time for ₹2,000 each.
